They have tried a 37 "Vizio, connect theater and top plate together. Only then can do now is spliting w / RCA TV cable, but you have the satellite cable separately in order to watch the film on DVD. I wonder if it will help a divider or something to me.

You need what she called a phone call or an AV. I posted a link where I share all my electronics, which have many options for a switch.

Probably should go with a selector or better than all your devices support. For example, if your home theater system with HDMI compatible and the TV, I would probably look for an HDMI switch / selector. The most frequent Switch / Selector RCA / S-video.
The link above has all the switches / selector available.
Here is what I use in children's rooms, so they can have a DVD / Game / satellite with a single input on the TV have device.

This S-Video and RCA outputs, so you can see the yellow / red / white or s-video/red/white. Very nice to have.
Well, if you use the AV output of the satellite switch will go to one of the inputs on the switch, and the DVD is another entry on the switch, then exitSwitches come to your home theater system. If you want, satellite, select the appropriate button to see, and vice versa for the DVD. Pretty simple.
